[๐ญ] Trying to Rest with Long-Form Content Instead of Shorts
โจ GPT-5.5โs Summary ใ
A note on watching Mr. Sunshine and feeling the difference between melting time with Shorts and resting while following a longer flow.
Lately I have been watching a 24-episode drama on Netflix, Mr. Sunshine.
For the last few years, I have usually preferred quick, short-form content like Shorts. But now that I am getting into the habit of watching something with a longer rhythm, I definitely feel a depth and immersion that Shorts cannot give.
In Why Are My Ideals High but My Reality Poor?, I wrote that when time is left unmanaged, YouTube/Shorts and games are the first things that enter. In Toward Healthy Rest, I also wrote that rest does not have to mean strong stimulation. What I felt today sits somewhere between those two posts.
Even when both are just ways to kill time, there is a clear difference between instantly melting time through low-friction stimulation and resting calmly while following a longer flow. I think not getting absorbed only in very short, stimulating things suits me better, so this feels like a good change.
