Todayβs restaurant is Nakwon, a cost-effective Hongdae pocha with a very hip feel.

The seats and full-length mirror thoughtfully placed by the entrance stand out.

As I tried to enter, there was a paper posted on the side.
Not Xbox, but XX Box? What is that
I got curious and searched it, and it was a club.
My life is far from clubs, so I just thought, βOh, benefits like this exist,β and went in.

This is the inside of the shop.
The music was playing loudly, but the volume was just right so it did not interfere with conversation.
It was an appropriate volume where you do not worry that other people might be eavesdropping, maybe? lol
Thanks to that, talking with the other person felt less guarded and more comfortable.

Looking at the photos, the sliced-pork kalbibim looked extremely tasty. As a noodle nerd and meat nerd, I go crazy for a menu like that.
And with alcohol, soup is the answer! They had dumpling egg soup, so I ordered it out of curiosity.
I thought about drinking beer because people said this was a good draft beer place with a nice atmosphere,
but both the acquaintance I went with and I were craving soju more than beer that day.
And since we came to a hot Hongdae pub, we decided to try a new soju unlike usual.

The dumpling egg soup came out first.
I was surprised because both the visuals and taste were much better than expected.
The moment I took one bite, it made me want a glass of alcohol.
It was moderately salty and stimulating, exactly my taste.
Especially that soft tofu worked so well with the broth.

Next came the sliced-pork kalbibim!
This is the kick.
Everyone knows noodles and meat taste good together.
But the combination of sliced pork + knife-cut noodles + spicy mixed sauce is not something you easily think of.
Personally, this was the best menu of the day.
It was pleasantly tangy, and the harmony with the dumpling egg soup was amazing.

Saero Darae soju, my first time trying it.
The alcohol content was 12%, so it was not burdensome at all, and it went down so smoothly that I was surprised.
It did not have that bitter finish, so it would probably be tasty even if you drank it straight.
Of course, that will not happen lol

Rather than plain straight soju,
soju you drink with a clink! sound is the best.

The acquaintance I went with said they were too full to eat more,
so I taught them the important lesson that food is not something you leave behind.
Phew⦠I almost burst.
Oops⦠but I am in the middle of a diet challenge ^^;;
If it is deliciousβ¦ zero caloriesβ¦
Anyway, the music coming from the shop was not overwhelming and felt appropriately hip,
and the prices were more reasonable than expected, so it really did feel like a cost-effective pocha.
If Hongdae students are looking for a good-atmosphere pub/restaurant, I think this would be a choice without regret.
If you live around Hongdae, I recommend going at least once!
