π Diary
Raising AI literacy as high as possible,
while protecting and developing the contextual intelligence and warm βhumannessβ that only humans can have.
This is the lifeline we must hold onto.
Today, by chance, I watched a YouTube video about AIβs current state and future.
It was a short video, but after watching it, too many thoughts stormed through my head and I could not fall asleep easily.
The video talked quite specifically about how AI will change our job world, what kind of learning attitude we should have in this era, and which fields will be less affected by AI.
The first thing that hit me from the video was the cold reality of job change caused by AI.
The prediction that repetitive paperwork or mid-level labor will be quickly replaced by AI is now an unavoidable flow.
The videoβs claim that the old style of learning, digging deeply into only one field, is no longer enough, and that we must constantly learn and experience new things in line with fast-changing tech trends, will probably become the most basic survival guideline for us living in this AI era.
That is exactly why no amount of emphasis on βAI literacyβ(the ability to understand artificial intelligence technology, evaluate it critically, and use it skillfully) is too much.
On top of these thoughts from the video, the industry news I keep hearing these days makes me see reality even more coldly.
Stories that even elite developers at big tech companies like Microsoft and Google are being hit by the cold wind of layoffs,

even the shocking news that more than 30% of the code they newly produce is already AI output,

and the job market for new developers, frozen solidβ¦

These are things that happened only 2 or 3 years after GPT shocked the world. At this level of performance, AI is growing so frighteningly without knowing its limits that even I think, βIf it were me, would I really need to hire a human developer?β
If this had been me a few weeks ago, I would have been hit by this fact barrage, stamping my feet in impatience and not knowing what to do. π Back then, it really felt like the world would flip over any second, and I was swallowed by the bleak thought, βWhat am I supposed to do now to make a living?β

[π Today #6] The Disease of βImpatienceβ That Flares Up in the AI Era, and the Right Prescription

But after watching that video today, and after seeing these realistic pieces of news, what comes first now is not blind anxiety but thinking about how to get through this era wisely.
As the video emphasized, AI is surpassing humans in analytical and creative intelligence, but βcontextual intelligenceβ β the ability to use and apply knowledge in actual various situations and solve practical problems β still remains an important uniquely human domain.
Things like human empathy, the ability to grasp complicated situations and atmosphere, and ethical judgment.
In the end, to avoid being swept away by the storm of the AI era, we need discernment: steadily walking my own path, following the spirit of the age and the mainstream paradigm, but not blindly worshiping it.
Raising AI literacy as high as possible, while protecting and developing contextual intelligence and warm βhumannessβ (which I believe humans inevitably have an advantage in because of AI ethics/law issues).
This is the lifeline we must hold onto. From now on, only people with that clear subjectivity and wisdom will survive inside this wave of change and pioneer their own path.
Maybe the path I am deeply thinking about these days, being a βroutine system designer,β is also my own survival strategy for integrating those two things.
Understanding and using AI most wisely, while at the same time designing systems that deeply touch human life and emotion and help people grow.
Tonight, the video I watched and the various recent pieces of news strangely gather into one conclusion. Or is it morning now? haha
Anyway, have a sense of crisis, but do not despair. Prepare for change, but do not lose humanness. That is the best I can do right now.

I am scared, butβ¦ do not freeze. Start with todayβs work!
I am scared, butβ¦
do not freeze. Start with todayβs work!
